Sisseton Housing & Redevelopment Commission was founded on March 4, 1968 in Sisseton, South Dakota with the mission of providing adequate, safe and decent housing to those who might otherwise live in substandard housing. We are dedicated to providing decent, safe, sanitary, drug free, and affordable housing for low-income individuals and families in Sisseton, South Dakota, as well as providing opportunities that promote self-sufficiency and economic independence for all residents. We offer income based housing at the Hi Rise apartments, Prairie View Chateau, and JARD Apartments. We also offer income based family housing at various locations throughout Sisseton, SD.
Sisseton Housing & Redevelopment Commission works with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide affordable housing in the city of Sisseton, South Dakota for over 80 households through two programs. The two programs are: Section 8 Project-Based Multi-Family Public Housing and Public Housing.
Sisseton Housing & Redevelopment Commission's day to day activities are governed by the Executive Director as well as five members of the Sisseton, South Dakota Community who have been appointed by the Mayor to the Sisseton Housing & Redevelopment Commission Board of Commissioners. Our Commissioners voluntarily serve five year terms and are overseen by the Board Chair.
