Housing Programs

Public Housing
When there is a vacancy, applicants from the waiting list are contacted about 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and 2 and 3 bedroom homes owned by Sisseton Housing & Redevelopment Commission.
  • The houses are located in different areas of Sisseton, South Dakota.
  • The apartments are located on the main campus located at 123 East Chestnut Street in Sisseton. 
  • The rent is based on 30% of tenant's adjusted monthly income.
  • The tenant is responsible for paying cable, internet, and phone services. 
  • Tenants are responsible for lawn maintenance and snow removal at the homes.
  • Applicants must meet eligibility and screening criteria


An application for placement on the waiting list for the Public Housing Program can be obtained at the office of Sisseton Housing & Redevelopment Commission during office hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. To have an application mailed call 605.698.3463 (Tel.) or 711 (TTY). Applications are also available via e-mail, fax, or through this website. 


Section 8 New-Construction Multi-Family

This is a project-based program that requires applicants to move into specified units in order to receive rental assistance. Applicants who indicate an interest in this program will be contacted by mail when one of these apartments will be available to rent. These units are JARD Apartments which are located at 300 West Oak Street in Sisseton. Rent and security deposits are based on 30% of the tenant's adjusted monthly income.
